DeSoto Center Master Plan and Building 1

Arcadia, Florida

Scope:

Located off of Turner Road in Arcadia, Building 1 of the South Florida Community College DeSoto Center consists of one building housing administrative offices and academic classrooms, as well as providing for student services and library.

The aesthetic design and construction methods were driven by the Owner’s standards established at the main campus. The two-story administrative/classroom portion of the building includes Distance Learning Labs, Computer and Science Labs, General Use Classrooms, Offices and student gathering/lounge areas.

The one-story vocational classrooms portion of the building includes program space for the Automotive Body Repair and Painting and Agricultural Mechanics.

Since this building is the first construction project on this property, master planning and environmental sensitivity were primary concerns during the initial planning. The sitting of the building considers the preservation of the wetlands and the surrounding natural habitat. Fast Track Design, CM-At-Risk
