Deltona Center Master Plan and Building 1
Deltona, Florida
Scope:
The focus of the new Deltona Center is on 21st Century technology. FLA completed this project in May of 2004.
Components of Building 1 include computer and networking labs, general classrooms, industrial technology incubator, library, faculty offices, lounge and other related spaces such as storage and workrooms. Since the new campus is contiguous to the new Deltona City Hall, consideration was given to design compatibility between the two sites. During design development, it was determined that Building 1 was required to serve as an Enhanced Hurricane Protection Area (EHPA) for Volusia County. FLA and consultants quickly responded with re-design to ensure compliance.
Other concerns included environmental issues such as the Scrub Jay and working with environmental engineers on their relocation, as well as additional tree and environmental surveys to ensure compliance with governing statutes.
