Hardee Center Master Plan and Building 1

South Florida Community College Wauchula, Florida

Scope:

Located in Wauchula, Phase One of the South Florida Community College Hardee Center consists of one building housing administrative office and academic classrooms, nursing laboratory and space for student services and library.

The aesthetic design and construction methods for this building were driven by the Owner in adherence to standards established on the main campus. The two-story administrative/classroom portion of the building includes Distance Learning Labs, Computer and Science Labs, General Use Classrooms, Offices and student gathering/lounge areas. The one story classroom portion of the building includes program spaces for both Nursing and Electric Line Service and Repair. A complementing detached metal building with adjoining practice area makes the Electric Line Service and Repair facility unique not only to Florida but the Southeast.

Since this building is the first construction project on this property, master planning and environmental sensitivity were primary concerns during the initial planning. The sitting of the building considers the preservation of the wetlands and the surrounding natural habitat. Fast Track Design, CM-At-Risk
