BAY HIGH SCHOOL – BARBARA W. NELSON FINE ARTS CENTER

PANAMA CITY, FLORIDA

Scope:

Several buildings at Bay High School were heavily damaged by Hurricane Michael in 2018 and required demolition which ultimately led to the prominent campus location for the Barbara W. Nelson Fine Arts Center.  This 1-story, 26,212 SF facility, designed to assimilate the historic presence of the original high school, features a front-wrap raised porch as an event area extension of the Gallery. The facility includes a Visual Arts Gallery, a Reception and Concession Area, a 707-Fixed Seat/8 Wheelchair space Audience Chamber,  a 1,003 SF Stage and 2,000 SF Backstage Space, a Drama Laboratory and Classroom, Green Room, Changing Areas, and other support spaces.
